Pleasant Gary Ross Working On Spider-man 4

Spider-man 4 is undergoing what I believe is a third rewrite. According to Variety, the script has been handed over to Gary Ross for a clean up and / or polishing. He's taking over the script from Zodiac writer James Vanderbilt and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire. Ross was the director of Pleasantville and screenwriter of The Tale of Despereaux, and it would seem like he might add an interesting layer or depth to an action / super hero film. Ross also worked with actor Tobey Maguire on Seabiscuit.

Spider-man 4 reunites director Sam Raimi with actors Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst for another chapter in the adventures of your friendly neighborhood Spider-man. Supposedly, both movies 4 and 5 are being shot back-to-back. There has yet to be any announcements as to who the villain or villains will be. It's been speculated and said by Raimi that "if he returned to direct, he would turn Connors into the Lizard. He also expressed interest in setting up the Sinister Six by introducing the Vulture and Electro. Raimi is also a fan of Morbius, the Living Vampire, citing the 'combination of superhero plus supernatural'."

Spider-man 4 is set for release on May 6, 2011.
