Lost Boys 3 Moving Right Along Without Haim!

Well, there's finally a title for and some solid news about the sequel The Lost Boys, Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs (if you're a comic book geek, too), and Lost Boys: The Tribe. The official title of the film will be Lost Boys 3: The Thirst. It will star Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog and supposedly another original cast member from the first film. Jamison Newlander is said to be returning in the role of his brother Alan, who has been turned into a vampire. That should prove to add a little spice to the storyline and script.

Another couple bits of info we've ran across is who's directing and writing the upcoming straight-to-DVD flick. The film is being helmed by Dario Piana, who directed The Deaths of Ian Stone which was one of the After Dark Horrorfest 8 Films to Die For. It's being scripted by Evan Charnov, who's only other writing credit is an unreleased TV movie called Fearless. Lost Boys 3 is set to start shooting in South Africa in November.

A synopsis has been released for the project through Bloody Disgusting, as well. Check it out:
When veteran vampire hunter Edgar Frog finds himself destitute and almost friendless, he thinks his life has hit bottom; but wealthy vampire-romance novelist Gwen Liebling offers him a small fortune to go on the vampire hunt of a lifetime and rescue her son Peter from the Alpha Vampire D.J. Dusk. With the help of his friends Zoe, Lars, and Blake, Edgar heads into a bloody battle to exterminate evil.
Alright. This is what I want to know. And I know I've brought it up before, but I haven't gotten an answer that satisfies me from anyone. Why is Jason Patric not in this movie? Surely he couldn't cost that much to get in this thing. I mean, where is he? I know he has a role in the upcoming comic book movie The Losers, but besides that and the 2004 movie The Alamo what has he really done since accidently pissing his career away in Speed 2: Cruise Control?

According to Corey Haim's official website on April 15th of 2009, "...as of now, he does not have any plans to participate in the film and no discussions have taken place for his involvement." There's been a couple of updates since that one, but nothing new said about Lost Boys 3. I would make a safe bet that he won't be in it, which really is too bad. I thought his cameo at the end of Lost Boys 2 was fun and there really could have been a story there to mine from.
