Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's action and a big chase and an avatar dude jumping off a cliff. It still looks like a cartoon.
James Cameron premiered a new extended clip for the upcoming 3D "extravaganza" Avatar during an MTV live webcast today to promote the film AGAIN.
The sequence features Jake Sully's blue avatar being chased through the jungles of Pandora by a giant creature called a Thanator. He then jumps off a cliff into a lake at the bottom of a waterfall. The water on the avatar's body doesn't help mask the CGI animation, which is still extremely evident. The video clip is posted after the jump.
Reborn in his avatar form, Jake can walk again. He is given a mission to infiltrate the Na'vi, who have become a major obstacle to mining the precious ore. But a beautiful Na'vi female, Neytiri, saves Jake's life, and this changes everything. Jake is taken in by her clan, and learns to become one of them, which involves many tests and adventures. As Jake's relationship with his reluctant teacher Neytiri deepens, he learns to respect the Na'vi way and finally takes his place among them. Soon he will face the ultimate test as he leads them in an epic battle that will decide nothing less than the fate of an entire world.
The movie is directed by James Cameron and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Giovanni Ribisi, Michelle Rodriquez, Lola Herrera, and Joel David Moore.
Avatar is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18th.
