The trailer for the live-action version of Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice has gone live. This thing looks pretty cool. The effects are pretty impressive and it definitely looks like it will hold your attention. Of course, who would even question that, with the same team that brought us both the National Treasure movies - Jerry Bruckheimer and Jon Turteltaub. It even stars a new hairstyle for Nic Cage, which is always a plus and something I personally wait in anticipation to see every time it's announced he's making a new movie. Of course, the film has been updated to take place in modern day New York. You can check out the official website for the movie right here. Check out the video after the jump.
Balthazar Blake is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath. Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler, a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protege. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It'll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice was directed by Jon Turteltaub and stars Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, Teresa Palmer, Monica Bellucci, and Toby Kebbell.
The spell will be cast on July 16, 2010.
