I know, I know. It's not a straight-up action movie. It's more of a political thriller and drama. It's got some action in it, though. And it's directed by Martin Campbell, who's directed action movies like Casino Royale, The Legend of Zorro, Vertical Limit, GoldenEye, No Escape, and the upcoming Green Lantern - that justifies it being on here right? After the jump, you can check out an interview with Mel Gibson for the upcoming film Edge of Darkness. He discusses his character, what happens to him in the beginning of the story, his character's mental state, the challenges of the role, the character Jedburgh, the character Bennett, and doing some of his own stunts. Footage provided by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Thomas Craven is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, 24-year-old Emma, is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. But he soon suspects otherwise, and embarks on a mission to find out about his daughter's secret life and her killing. His investigation leads him into a dangerous looking-glass world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion and murder -- and to shadowy government operative Darius Jedburgh who has been sent in to clean up the evidence. Craven's solitary search for answers about his daughter's death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption.
Edge of Darkness was directed by Martin Campbell and stars Mel Gibson, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, Bojana Novakovic, and Shawn Roberts.
The movie opens Friday, January 29th.
