Tim Burton isn't too lucky when it comes to remakes for Hollywood. His "Alice in Wonderland" remake / sequel met with mixed reviews. Many would say his "Planet of the Apes" was to blame for killing off the franchise for over 10 years after waiting so long for another movie. "Sleepy Hollow" was met with decent reviews, but still didn't thrill critics the way his other films have.
However, it's not fair to bring up the bad without talking about the good. Burton hit the mark with remakes or new versions of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Now he's taken on the cult classic 1960's supernatural soap opera "Dark Shadows."
