One of the main goals of Aquaman's relaunch for the New 52 was to make him more relevant, self-aware and just plain cooler for a new generation of comic book fans. I think most readers would agree Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis did a spectacular job rejuvenating the character and giving him a new lease on life.
