May means it's time again for one of my personal favorite conventions. Texas Frightmare Weekend is upon us and they've got a great lineup of celebrity guests and events for the rabid horror fanbase to devour. I've been attending this great gathering for several years now and wouldn't miss it for the world.
This year's lineup of celebrity guests include Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel), Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie's Halloween), Ted Raimi (Ash vs. Evil Dead, Spider-Man), wrestlers Ric Flair and Sting, The Misfits' Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, Wilford Brimley (The Thing, Coccon), Director Dario Argento (Suspiria, Phenomena), and dozens more. There are even reunions for the casts of classic horror films like Fright Night, The Thing, 31, and The Hills Have Eyes.
One thing that I can attest to is the organization put into Texas Frightmare Weekend. When it comes to making sure lines are manageable and access to their dealer rooms is accommodating, these guys are quite competent.
Speaking of dealer rooms, let's talk about the variety of vendors you have to look forward to. In the past, Texas Frightmare Weekend has been host to record labels, music bands, t-shirt shops, book sellers, movies stores, and prop replica and mask companies. The range of what you'll find at the convention is astounding.
Texas Frightmare Weekend starts Friday, May 5th and goes through Sunday, May 7th. It takes place at the Hyatt Regency at the DFW Airport. You can go to the event's official website for tickets, schedule, and other information.
