Father of the Modern Zombie Film George A. Romero has passed away. It was reported that the iconic horror director / producer died in his sleep after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 77. On the surface, his "Living Dead" films appeared to nothing more than an exposition in gore. If you dug just a little deeper, there were plenty of social and political messages aimed at audiences.
I just met him briefly and shot this photo, so I don't have any great moment to share with George A. Romero. I will say thank you, Mr. Romero, for giving us one of the greatest and entertaining horror genres out there - the modern zombie film. "Night of the Living Dead" was one of my son Everett's first terrifying experiences. Great memories.
