Gene Simmons Celebrates 50 Year Career with His Vault

I love Gene Simmons. And let me tell you, I get a lot of flack from people when I say that. I love when people who have never met the man tell me how big of a jerk he is. I've had the great pleasure of meeting and interviewing Gene on a few occasions and he's always been a very welcoming and genuinely nice guy.

Does Gene love money and himself? Of course he does. That's what's made him a success as a rock icon, businessman, and stock analyst. Many people often seem to overlook his generosity, as he's financially supported everything from veteran and children's medical programs to hurricane relief.

Recently, Gene has been getting a lot more up close and personal with his fans. He's toured as part of the Wizard World convention circuit meeting and greeting folks. Many of these appearances are toplined with a live performance of Simmons and his solo band, many times with the musician inviting concert attendees onstage to perform with him.

Gene is taking it a step further by offering to come party with you at your home with several of your friends. It's all part of the Gene Simmons Vault Experience. Can you imagine the Demon from KISS sitting in your living room personally giving you his commentary on music he's recorded over the past 50 years?

I opened my e-mail inbox the other day to see a message from Gene Simmons. Being a sensible card-carrying KISS Army member, I knew the e-mail wasn't directly from the Demon. I was on the KISS mailing list. I clicked on the e-mail and was greeted by this message:

"Gene Simmons here. You might think you know all about me, but believe it or not there’s more… After years of being in the spotlight with KISS, I’ve decided it’s time to share another side with you, a deeply personal one. With The Vault, I’ve created a 50-year time capsule (1966 to 2016) that serves as a soundtrack to my life, filled with songs I’ve written, but have never been released. Until now.

The Vault includes 150 recordings featuring notable rock and roll artists and of course, my bandmates from KISS.

As an obsessive music fan and collector myself, I’ve packed The Vault with exclusive mementos created just for The Vault - a new Gene action figure, an “In Gene We Trust” oversized commemorative coin, a deluxe book containing over 50,000 words and 160-pages of unseen photos from my personal collection. As well as a track-by-track commentary on every song. And I’ve hand selected a personal gift from me to you direct from my very own archive.

The best part? I will hand deliver your Vault at an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime, event near you.

This is my personal invitation. Welcome to The Vault."

My curiosity got the best of me and I clicked on the link to the official website (www.genesimmonsvault.com). I was greeted by different links spelling out the different "Experiences" available. They are best explained in the site's own words:

Honestly, the $2,000 price tag to meet Gene and get the Vault is a great deal. I know blue-collar folk that will blow more than that on a bunch of comic-con crap that's nowhere near as thrilling as the contents in the Vault, if you're a KISS fan. The Home Experience would cost each guest in attendance $2,500. Think of it as a VIP party with Gene Simmons as the guest of honor.
