No word yet as to exactly when the Blu-ray version of Supergirl will hit, but this was just announced via a Warner Archive press release. I know most hate the movie, but I find it to be a charming piece of 1980's nostalgia. Sure, it has some campy acting and characters and might be a bit overlong. I definitely still think it's worth a watch and is a must-have item for any Super-Collector.
I guess details will be released at the San Diego Comic-Con Warner Archive event being held on Thursday, July 19th at 4:30 to 5:30 PM.
A generation before Kara Zor-El conquered the airwaves, a soon-to-be-legendary actress made her motion picture debut as the "Maid of Might" in a big screen follow up to Superman: The Movie. Join the original Supergirl, Helen Slater (The Secret Of My Success), alongside her Jimmy Olsen, Marc McClure (Superman, Back to the Future) and Warner Archive Podcast co-hosts Matt Patterson and DW Ferranti as they shine the super spotlight at this caped wonder and reveal what's in store on the new Supergirl Blu-ray release. As always, moderator Gary Miereanu will have goodies for some lucky fans.
In Supergirl, Kara of Argo City poses as Clark Kent's cousin, Linda Lee, to recover the Omegahedron from an evil Terran sorceress.
Supergirl is directed by Jeannot Szwarc (Jaws 2, Somewhere in Time) from a script by David Odell (The Dark Crystal, Tales from the Darkside series). It stars Helen Slater (The Legend of Billie Jean, The Secret of My Success), Faye Dunaway (Bonnie and Clyde, Mommie Dearest), Peter O-Toole (Lawrence of Arabia, The Lion in Winter), and Mia Farrow (Rosemary's Baby). It's rated PG for violence and scenes with smoking and drinking.
